The Cardinal Spirit

Artist Statement

When I first decided to submit for the Springfield 66 Design Contest, I knew I wanted to hone my illustration skills and create a detailed and exciting design to be on display! Coming from a family of big baseball fans, I thought of creating a Hammons Field-specific design for a spot for families to take photos and make lifelong memories on a game day! There is something so special about being at a baseball game, and I believe our Cardinals are a great representation of the wonderful town of Springfield! I wanted to include all of the fun that comes with being at Hammons Field, not just the game itself, but also the fireworks! Once I submitted my design and received the exciting email hearing that I got it, the Springfield Cardinals team was great to work with! As a local artist, I was so excited to get this opportunity to do something that is engraved into the history of our town!
